As a superior answer to the Soviet T-34 and armoured battle tanks introduced in 1942, the armoured fighting vehicle IV "Tiger" was continually improved while it was in production. Driven by a water-cooled V-12 Maybach HL 230 P45 694 h.p. petrol engine, the Tiger had a max. speed of 38 km/h. It had a crew of five.

Revell 1/72 Tiger Ii Ausf.B
The Tiger II, unofficially known as the King Tiger, developed in 1943, was produced by Henschel from 1944 onwards. The King Tiger combined the requirements for armoured protection and fire power in an exemplary manner. The front armour up to 150 mm thick could not be penetrated by any of the on-board weapons of its opponents.
The side armour was up to 80 mm thick. Despite several massive allied bombardments of the Henschel works in Kassel, a total of 492 Tiger IIs - including the prototypes and 50 vehicles equipped with the Porsche turret - were delivered to the troops. However not all of these reached the units at the front. A large number of Tiger IIs were lost when they broke down as a result of their heavy overall weight or simply because they ran out of fuel.

Revell 1/72 Pz Kpfw Iii Ausf.L
The L version of the Panzer III tank was built from the summer of 1942 to the end of that year. Its main difference from the J version was the additional armour on the front of the hull and on the cannon mantlet. 20 mm thick armour plates were added to give the crew improved protection at the front. To simplify production certain details were changed.
The louvres were completely removed from the mantlet and the sides of the turret and in later models the emergency exits were eliminated from the sides of the hull. The ammunition stowage for the long 50 mm cannon 39/L60 again had to be somewhat reduced due to its increased weight and now held 78 rounds.
