Designed less than a year after the famous Tiger Tank, the Panther boasted new thinking in tank design - 45% armour which was not only thickest at that angle, but helped to deflect shots. Not as well equiped as the Tiger, a 75mm main gun was used along with two MG34s machine guns - one in the hull front and one by the commander's cupola.
